Now, a little about me:
This school year begins my eighth year in
the teaching profession. I did not go
to school to be a teacher. This is actually my second career. I have a B.S. in Environmental Science with
a concentration in Biology. I started
my working life as an Environmental Specialist for an environmental consulting
company and quickly became jaded in finding out that environmental consulting
does not necessarily mean they are in the business of protecting the
environment. So, I decided to go back to school for education. This decision came as a result of some
soul-searching and reflection on how many people in my life through the years
have told me that I should be a teacher.
I received my teaching certification through Western Carolina University
and the first day I ever stepped foot into a classroom I knew beyond a shadow
of a doubt that teaching is the profession I was born to be in.
I taught in North Carolina for three years before moving back to Chattanooga, which is my hometown. I spent the last four years teaching 8th grade science at Loftis Middle School. I loved my time at Loftis but felt a change was needed in my life, so I decided to come teach at Normal Park. I am really excited to be a part of this school and I am looking forward to an excellent school year with you!
On a personal note, I am huge science dork, an amateur nature photographer, an avid disc golfer and a music lover. I also enjoy just about anything that includes being in nature and the outdoors, specifically cycling, trail running and swimming.
